Horseley Fields, used as an Iron works from 1880's and part of a wider Wolverhampton's industrialisation within the "Black Country". Wolverhampton City Council were looking to develop the area to create a sustainable community.
The 2021 census shown Wolverhampton to have a large amount of rented and in particular socially rented homes and a high number of single occupancy households compared to a national average. What the census data doesn't show is the Homelessness and people seeking refuge in the city.
To combat these stereotypes, a philosophy of "What's Strong not What's Wrong" was used during the design process. Encouraged the empowerment of the community by creating opportunities to be entrepreneurs, spaces to interact and socialise and be part of a circular economy.
