The project focuses on revitalizing a historic Grade II listed building in Bilston, UK. The design seeks to restore the original Georgian architecture while integrating a modern, biophilic extension that embraces sustainability and community engagement. Key strategies include the reinstatement of Georgian features, the removal of unsympathetic Victorian extensions, and the introduction of green roofs, passive shading, and high-performance materials. Inspired by Bilston’s industrial heritage and the natural regrowth of the landscape, the proposal envisions a multifunctional space featuring street food vendors, co-working areas, and community learning hubs. The project aims to create a vibrant, adaptable environment that respects history while fostering social connection and well-being.
